REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Summer Dance 2018

Who: Dancers 3 to 18 years old 

What: Summer '18 Dance Registration

Where: GLRRC, 1801 Glen Keith Blvd.

When: Wednesday. June 6, 2018 from 6-8:30pm 


 SUMMER SESSION CLASS OFFERINGS:

*Students must meet the age requirement by June 30th to participate in the classes.*

BALLET---AGES 3 AND UP

TAP--- AGES 3 AND UP

JAZZ---AGES 6 AND UP

HIP HOP---AGES 8 AND UP

LYRICAL--- AGES 10 AND UP

MODERN--- AGES 10 AND UP

TECHNIQUE--- AGES 11 AND UP

Students 10 and under receive 30 minutes of instruction per class. Students 10 and up receive 40 minutes of Ballet and Tap instruction and 30 minutes per class for the other styles. 

TUITION/PAYMENT INFORMATION:

BALLET- TAP- JAZZ- HIP HOP- LYRICAL- MODERN- BALLET AND JAZZ TECHNIQUE

 Each dance style listed above is held once a week for 10 weeks with a focus on dance training/technique, poise, and stage presence. We do our best to make the classes run back-to-back for dancers taking two or more classes.   Our program runs from the week of June 25th until the week of August 27th (end of summer showcase date TBD). Classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. We create classes after registration as we do not want to turn any dancers away when age groups fill upIf you sign up and are unable to make any of the class times for your child's age group, we will give you a full refund.

$175- 1 class

$200- 2 classes

$225- 3 classes

$250- 4 classes

$275- 5 classes

$100- one Technique class (Ballet OR Jazz Technique)

$150- two Technique classes (Ballet AND Jazz Technique)

  

 Checks should be made payable to GLRRC. Please include your dancer's first and last name on the "memo" line when writing checks. A $35 fee will be charged for returned checks.

DRESS CODE:

GENERAL DRESS CODE INFORMATION---

  • HAIR: Hair must be tied back for all classes. If your dancer has short hair, please pin it back or use a headband to keep the hair away from the dancer's face.
  • NO JEWELRY: Remember loose or dangling jewelry is a safety hazard and distraction for dancers. Jeans, jean shorts, play clothes, or school clothes are not suitable dance attire.
  • TIGHTS are required in all classes. (footed or convertible---NO FOOTLESS)  

CLASS SPECIFIC DRESS CODE INFORMATION---

Creative Movements *FALL ONLY CLASS* (18 mos-3 year olds):

                                       • Black Leotard, Tutu Dress (dance and tutu skirts are optional)

                                            •Ballet Pink tights (footed or convertible---NO FOOTLESS)

                                       •Stretch-Fit pink ballet slippers (with drawstring and elastic band)

Ballet and Tap (3 year olds- 12 year olds):

• Black Leotard, Tutu Dress (dance and tutu skirts are optional)

•Ballet Pink tights (footed or convertible---NO FOOTLESS)

•Stretch-Fit pink ballet slippers (with drawstring and elastic band)

  • Tap shoes-- Capezio black "Ribbon Tie Tap Shoes" or "Mary Jane Buckle Strap" or "Velcro Strap"

Intermediate and Advanced Level Ballet and Tap:

 •any style/color supportive leotard

•may wear dance skirts, athletic shorts/skirts, or leggings are allowed;NO BAGGY pants or anything that covers the lower legs, ankles, and feet

•may wear a nude performance leotard/dance bra/sports bra if needed

•Ballet Pink or Tan tights (footed or convertible)

•Ballet shoes--Bloch or Capezio canvas pink ballet slippers (MUST have a drawstring, not just elastic, *split-sole acceptable)

  • Tap shoes-- Capezio or Bloch lace-up or slip-on black tap shoes (split-sole required)

Jazz and Hip Hop (all levels):

•black lace-up or slip-on jazz shoes (split-sole reccomended for Intermediate and Advanced dancers); NO HARD SOLE shoes or dance boots allowed

  •any style/color supportive leotard; form-fitting tank tops and/or crop tops are allowed

•long black jazz pants, athletic shorts/skirts,or leggings are allowed

Modern and Lyrical (all levels):

•any style/color supportive leotard;sports bra tops, form-fitting tank tops, and/or crop tops are allowed

•foot undies/socks/bare feet are optional (teacher approval required)

Pointe *FALL ONLY CLASS* (all levels):

*PLEASE BE SURE TO BE FITTED BY A PROFESSIONAL IF YOU ARE PURCHASING POINTE SHOES FOR THE FIRST TIME---WE RECOMMEND VISITING MISS HARRIET AT ARTISTIC COSTUMES & DANCE FASHIONS*

ATTENDANCE AND CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY:

During the Fall/Spring (Recital) Session, attending class on a regular basis is imperative.  Dedication to class not only ensures students are prepared for the recital, but also helps students get the most out of their dance experience.  Therefore, all students who participate in Loch Raven Dance Program’s Recital Session must comply with the program’s attendance policy. We understand that children have other activities, and may get sick, so please let us know ahead of time about your child's absence (if/when possible). Of course, there are special circumstances, so if your child has a serious injury/illness, please make sure to contact his/her teacher.


Tardiness
A student will be considered absent if he/she is late to class by 15 minutes or more. 

Attendance Policy Details:

 If your child is absent from 2 consecutive classes and/or 3 total classes, you will receive an e-mail reminder of our policy. If your child misses 5 classes, you will receive an e-mail notice to schedule a meeting. If more than 5 classes are missed, the chairperson and teachers reserve the right to determine whether your child will be able to participate in the recital. A refund will not be issued if your child is removed from the program due to attendance issues. Students who miss mandatory stage and dress rehearsals (without prior approval) will not be permitted to perform in the recital.

 

Please review the Loch Raven Dance Troupe Code of Conduct with your child prior to the dance year. Each registrant is required to submit a signed form and/or agree to the terms on online registration in order to participate.    

   

REHEARSAL AND RECITAL INFORMATION:

The Loch Raven Dance Troupe performed Beauty and the Beast on May 5-6th 2018. Thank you to everyone who made the show a success!

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY:

In the event of bad weather, we follow the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) system.  If BCPS closes for the day or cancels after school/evening activities, then classes are cancelled.  If there are BCPS delays in the morning, we will still have classes that afternoon/evening.  If classes are cancelled, we do our best to notify parents/dancers via email as soon as possible. *There are some situations (on the weekends) where BCPS closes school sites only. As the rec center is NOT a school site, we are permitted to then have classes.  We will keep you posted when this occurs.  Please be sure to diligently check the news and/or email when inclement weather occurs.
